I was brought up by my mother all on her own. She raised us to believe in God and going to church every Sunday. I recall those Sundays like yesterday because we'd all get dressed up and of course, we'd make sure that the car was shiny!
After the offering, we'd all sing and feel as though we really knew Jesus, but for me, there was always something missing. There was never a fellowship through the week, and as I recall, no study of the Scriptures. Ultimately, I grew up not knowing Truth.
It took me until I was 52 years old and was invited to Home Church to figure it out. There was always a question I was asking myself: "What is life really about?" When I came to Home Church, the light went on in my head and I knew the answer! (It's to bring the Kingdom of God from heaven to earth). I now have a new life to look forward to because I am now being taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Savior. My heartfelt appreciation to Him for opening these doors to me.
May God bless Home Church and this congregation because of your acceptance without judgment. I am so blessed to belong! And thanks to Jesus Christ our Savior, for showing me the door!
I commit my life to His ways and to His fellowship and to doing His will. I ask our Heavenly Father to work His Holy Spirit on my human spirit, so that I might know and understand all that Christ has intended for me.
I can remember my mother praising the Lord and reciting Psalm 23. I also remember praying at her bedside as she passed away and reciting Psalm 23:
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters.
But my favorite verse is Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
My goal is to go wherever Jesus goes and to follow Him forever. Amen.
