PURPOSE

The Reformation Canada Network (RCN) is a family of churches in Canada bearing witness that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. As we proclaim this good news and live as Jesus taught us, we endeavour to draw others to the joy of new life in Christ.

As a growing family of churches, the RCN is committed to building each other up in our faith. We acknowledge God’s Word, the Bible, as our only rule of faith and life, and we seek to govern ourselves by it, alone.

CREEDS AND CONFESSIONS

The RCN affirms as faithful witnesses to God’s Word those Creeds and Confessions which anchored the historic Reformed churches: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort. We further affirm the helpfulness of other Reformation statements of faith such as the Westminster Confession, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and Luther’s Smaller Catechism, and of more contemporary statements such as the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978) and the Nashville Statement on Biblical Sexuality (2017).  Even so, no creed, confession or statement of faith rises to the authority of the Scriptures on which they are based.

MISSION

The mission of the RCN is to equip our congregations to carry out the work Christ gave us: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

VISION

The vision of the RCN is to see every church a healthy church, radiant in Christ, reaching out and reproducing, in anticipation of the fulfillment of God’s promise: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)
